Causes of wrinkles

Wrinkles usually occur as a result of several factors :

Aging – wrinkles are a natural consequence of aging. With age, skin cells divide more slowly, and the inner layer of skin, the dermis, begins to thin, which reduces the elasticity and has a bad affects on the structure of the skin. Aging also reduces the ability to retain moisture and oil creation, all of which contributes to the process of wrinkling .

Contraction of facial muscles – wrinkles between the eyebrows and around eyes are the result of muscle contraction. Smiling, frowning, squinting and other common expressions make these wrinkles become more prominent . Over time, they , along with gravity , form cushions and drooping eyelids .

Sunlight – overexposure to the sun damages your skin and can cause wrinkles. To prevent this , try to avoid direct sunlight from 10 to 16h and apply sunscreen every day, even in winter when it is cloudy .

Smoking – smoking reduces the production of collagen, which is a key part of the structure of the skin, and thus contributes to the appearance of wrinkles. This is another very good reason to stop smoking, or never even start .

How to alleviate wrinkles?

There are many available treatments for reducing wrinkles, including a variety of creams and lotions available. Anti wrinkle creams are effective containing retinoid and Retin -A.

Removing the surface layers of the skin is also an effective method, which makes it possible to recover a smooth , youthful looking skin.

This method involves several options:

Dermabrasion and chemical peel – the two traditional and well-known method to improve the surface appearance of the skin.

Ablative laser – using this technique it is possible to correct major and minor skin irregularities, but it may take some time to complete healing after application.

Nonablative lasers – can also help in the treatment of wrinkles. These lasers heat the dermis and stimulate collagen production. This process, which leaves the outer layer of the skin intact, does not require longer treatment. However, the results also are not as noticeable as with ablative lasers, which actually removes the surface layer of the skin.

Botox – the application of Botox, collagen and other fillers can also help with wrinkles.
