Migraine and headache can be distinguished by the manner in which they occur and intensity of pain. The headache usually occurs in occiput and expands further. Headache related problems are usually weakened concentration, lack of memory, irritability.

The causes of headaches are not usually found in the head, but in some other physical disorder such as indigestion and intestinal infections, flu or colds, allergies, PMS, stress and tension. It is, after all, one of the reasons why the headache is treated as a symptom, not a disease.

Unlike headache, migraine is considered a chronic illness. It usually occurs at a younger age, it is often hereditary, and affects approximately 25% of humanity.

Aura is a modern term for symptoms that precede the occurrence of migraines. These symptoms include impaired vision, flashing lights, muscle aches, fatigue, nervousness and yawning.

It is not a rule that always after these symptoms necessarily appear migraine, but, once it appears, can last an hour or two, but it can take several days as well. Person may experience nausea, sensitivity to sound (phonophobia), sensitivity to light (photophobia). Migraine usually affects one side of the head, and sometimes affects the whole head.

In the past it was believed that migraine sufferers are people who are extremely intelligent and emotionally sensitive, but it has never been scientifically proven.

The exact reason for the occurrence of migraine was never determined, but it is known to be more common in people with irregular digestion, disorders related to gastric acid, and probably is associated with the action of hormones.

Menstrual cycle in women is probably one of the reasons why migraine suffers as much as 20% of women and only 6% of men. In addition there are sleep deprivation, climate change, consumption of certain foods, coffee and alcohol.

Treatment of headaches and migraines

Since the reasons for the emergence of migraine and headache are mainly related to nutrition and digestion, there are certain steps you can take to at least alleviate these.

Certain studies have shown that reducing the intake of fatty foods decreases the frequency of migraine and headaches by  70%.

There are omega-6 fatty acids, which further stimulate inflammation and pain. They are found in some vegetable oils such as corn oil, sunflower etc.

However, you should avoid all fats . Omega 3 fatty acids, which in large part can be found in fish meat and nuts appear to be very beneficial in a variety of inflammation and pain, and are useful for a variety of other things related to immunity, health, concentration, memory…

In addition to fatty foods, the main suspects for frequent migraines are canned foods, some chocolate, white sugar, various meat products.
